November 2003 to March 2004
The client for this project is a print, web and multimedia designer. She had built the site in Dreamweaver as a class project, so the programming behind it was not perfected. Having worked with me for three years at Portland Community College, she trusted that I would be able to do her site justice. She was not disappointed.
By starting clean, I ensured that none of the original problems of alignment, and consistency from page to page existed. The entire layout was recreated in graphic format and the images were properly sliced and aligned. Portfolio pop-up windows were produced in Flash to demonstrate print, web and multimedia work. I also helped with the writing on the site and the site architecture.
From there, the layout was built using CSS, and tested across several browsers and platforms. The layout needed to be supported both on Windows and Macintosh, and while many of her clients are quite tech savvy, many of them use much older technology. So the CSS used had to work properly even on legacy systems.
Finally, Suzan's original text formatting was brought into the style sheet to ensure that it looked just the way she had intended. We are still developing some of the elements of the site, specifically the Flash and Director portfolio areas. She is one pleased client and is proud to show the site to colleagues and clients even at this stage of development. The final result of all this work was one very pleased client with a web site she is proud to show her clients.
